Ep1 Aligned & Thriving Podcast FINAL
===
[00:00:00] Episode one, feeling the fear and doing it anyway. Thank you for being here. Thank you for joining me on my brand new podcast. I'm really nervous, facing many fears, and also very excited to be here, sharing with you. You are in the right place. If you are a business woman who has been in business already for a couple of years or more.
Already. And you want to go beyond the basics. You have tried to follow formulas and strategies that you've seen other people using. You've been working hard. You have created an offering or multiple offerings that you have tried and tested and you have got happy customers, but you are wondering how it is that you can grow a business.
So that you feel good on the [00:01:00] inside that works around you, your family and the life that you desire and is also creating the success and impact that you are after. This is a place for you. If you want to hear real and raw conversations with other female entrepreneurs who are ahead of you or experiencing some of the things you might be experiencing and what they're doing about it, I'm going to share with you potentially the crazy things that go on in my head.
I'm going to keep it raw and real. I'm going to share with you the way I think about things. I'm going to share with you business strategies. I'm going to break things down sometimes. Other times I'm going to go big picture. It's about being inspired. It's about learning and most of all, it's about taking action if you are here.
And I know that you are a woman who is serious about making an impact and growing a business around you, your family, and your life. You don't want to be part of the burnout culture, [00:02:00] the over hustling, the unhealthy hustling. Healthy hustling. I am all here for it. Uh, anyways, welcome to this community. I cannot wait to grow it and I can't wait to be sharing more of it with you.
This episode is all about feeling the fear and doing it anyway, because I have had a big fear and block around doing a podcast for a long time. It's been around probably 12 to 18 months that I've known that I wanted to create a podcast as my core piece of content. And for multiple reasons. But this episode is not so much about that and why do you use a, why you might want to look at using a podcast as one of your, or your main core content piece.
But I've been really serious about it probably for the last four to five months. And one of the reasons that I got more serious about wanting to create a podcast, and also the main reason I haven't yet, [00:03:00] or hadn't until now, is because I felt a lot of fear around it and through chatting with some peers in a mastermind that I am in and looking at why it was that I hadn't started one already, uh, and realizing that I had quite a block around speaking, which was really contrary to the feedback that I was getting from all of the peers around me and my clients.
And even though I was an instructor, a Latin dance instructor, I'll share more of my story another time, for around a decade, and I spoke in front of people every single day, sharing my knowledge. Even though I have emceed many an event from smaller internet ones through to events with hundreds of people, close up, up on stage, uh, even though I share super comfortably directly with my clients, uh, and [00:04:00] even though I've had around 15 years of experience as a business owner.
Leading staff meetings, I've practiced speaking for social media, I've been the face of a business for so many years, recording ads, sharing information, doing stories. It doesn't really bother me to get on video specifically, but when I just need to share from my heart and my soul and just speak, the voice in my head would be there saying to me, that's not very succinct.
You're not being very eloquent. This is not coming out how you were thinking it. You had this great idea and now that you're here speaking it, it really doesn't seem to be coming out in a very clear and concise kind of a way. When I'm asking a question, does this even make sense? And I would kind of loop around and repeat myself and feel like I wasn't delivering what I wanted to say in a very succinct kind of a way, in a very eloquent [00:05:00] kind of a way.
Uh, and, and then when I would listen back, because it's important that we do that, we listen back to my lives on Instagram, for example, I'd think, you know what, actually that sounds pretty good. It is pretty clear. And I did get my message across, or I would have feedback from peers and friends telling me that when I speak, they, they listen.
I got the feedback that when I shared either a question or a answer or a thought that it was highly impactful for so many people, and they found it helpful. Informative, concise, and very eloquent, which is so very interesting because we can have these ideas in our minds, we can have these voices in our minds telling us one thing, and then we can be getting feedback from [00:06:00] outside that is quite different.
Um, and while I am all about leaning in to our own inner guidance, leaning into what feels right for us, listening to our gut, uh, going, you know, following your intuition, all of those things. And most of the times we can find that answer internally. I also believe that there is a time and a place for leaning outwards into the way that others see us into the way that others are reflecting back to us, how they see us.
And the gifts and talents that we bring, because sometimes for whatever reason, it could be because somebody has told us something in the past. It could be from past experiences, uh, it could be, uh, from many different reasons that we have an idea in our head that we are not good at something, for example.
And so sometimes it can be so helpful to lean outwards into the way that other people see us. [00:07:00] And into the feedback back that we are receiving from others. That's what I've decided to do as part of making this move to bring this podcast to life. Another big one is because I am all about moving through the fears and the blocks.
I realized that I had a big block around just sharing my thoughts. Being raw and real, uh, a block and a fear, really. And so I've decided as one of the reasons to start this podcast, beyond it being a great business strategy, beyond it being a great way to share my knowledge, beyond it being a great option as a core piece of content, beyond it being a great way to reach new people and create a larger community, uh, and create more of an impact.
It's also to face this fear and just do it anyway. Because the more we do that, the more [00:08:00] comfortable we become in that discomfort and that fear. And the more we are able to go out there, outside of our comfort zone, because that is where all of our growth and all of that big impact that we want to create is.
It's outside of our comfort zone. Because here's the thing. As entrepreneurs, there is no getting around. Not feeling the fear and not doing it anyway. There is no getting around moving through discomfort, moving through things that feel hard, feel scary, things that we feel fear about as entrepreneurs over and over and over again, we are going to have to feel the fear and do it anyway.
It doesn't matter what stage of entrepreneurship you are at. It doesn't matter how many times you've done it before. It doesn't matter how. Amazing your business is if you've reached certain levels of a success and income and systems and growth, or how long you've been in business, [00:09:00] something you're always going to have to do as an entrepreneur is to feel the fear and do it anyway, if you want to continue to grow and create more impact, uh, and grow as a person, because one of the big, big parts of, of being an entrepreneur, I believe is that we are people who.
Want to grow. We are people who want to make a change. We are people who want to make a big impact. We are heart and soul led women who, who want to make generational change in our family. We don't want to do things like other people. We've got big ideas. We're creative. And so I imagine that you're the same.
And if you are, then no matter where. How far you go in business, you are going to have to continue to feel the fear and do it anyway. It's something that we just can't get around as entrepreneurs. [00:10:00] So practically speaking, what are some of the ways that I help myself get through feeling the fear and doing it anyway?
Well, one of the things is to just do it. Yeah, there's a reason that's the Nike slogan, just do it. We have to make a decision. We have to take action and that is exactly why I'm literally recording this episode before I finalize the name of the podcast, before I have set up all the systems, before I know exactly how to do it all.
I am recording this podcast episode because it's the part of the whole process that is scaring me the most. It is the part of the process that I need to move through and kind of get over, if you like, to be able to make it happen was the sharing and the recording of the episodes. All the rest, I can figure it out.
All the rest, I have access to the [00:11:00] information and the strategies and the systems, and I'm surrounded by people who also have podcasts. So I know I can do all the other parts. So I have done the part that feels the scariest first out of all of those. It's taken me a while. It's taken me a long while, but I knew that the only way to make it happen was to make a decision and take action.
We have to dig deep and believe in ourselves because nobody else is going to believe in us enough. We have to believe in ourselves more. We can lean into that outside belief of our mentors and our peers and our good friends. Hopefully you have a circle of people that you can lean into. Business should not be done alone.
Lean into those people to give you that boost when you need it. As I said, I've went into that external validation, that external way people see and hear me, so that that gives me extra confidence boost to start this and to speak and just let my thoughts flow here with [00:12:00] you. But also we need to dig deep and believe in ourselves.
So, sometimes there's no, there's no real strategy, besides Doing the thing. Yes, I can lean into mindset hacks. Yes, I can lean into behaviors and habits that are going to support me. For example, I got myself up. I did a workout. I had a shower. I put on something bright. I've faced away from my computer so that I feel more free and more inspired in this position, more relaxed to share.
Like I'm just sharing with a friend and. All of those things, all of the mindset things that I've learned over the years of developing myself and developing through business and through that personal growth. But at the end of the day, I've had to just sit down and do the damn thing. So yes. We can build all of the strategies, the mindset hacks, the daily [00:13:00] success habits, and all of the things, and they are so, so important to get us at a base level and, and being able to perform and, you know, feel our best and all of the things.
Sometimes, you know what, you just got to sit down and do it. So beyond this podcast being a great way to connect with you and beyond it being a great way to potentially look at growing my business and sharing my knowledge, I'm also showing up here for myself. To move through this fear and move through this block, uh, and just show up and share, which is also why I have not scripted this first episode.
I thought about it, uh, and I don't plan to script. Generally speaking, I am a note taker. I will have bullet points and there are specific things that I will dive into throughout this podcast for sure. Some of the episodes are going to be deep dives into particular strategies or steps or mindset shifts where we get into the details.[00:14:00]
Uh, because one of my zones of genius is being able to see the big picture as well as the little details and being able to join them together to, to bring, bring us into what we need to be doing next to actually move towards. So, I will be breaking things down and following some steps and sharing those with you.
I will also be sharing just kind of thoughts and insights and experiences and stories from my 15 years of being an entrepreneur through various different businesses. I'm also going to invite incredible, amazing Uh, female entrepreneurs and women in business who can share amazing insights, stories, strategies, uh, and in that raw and real way.
Sometimes I will even invite some of you beautiful listeners on as well to share your experiences. I may even do things like little hot seats where you can bring in your questions and we can work through them and share knowledge and exchange. I want this to be a place [00:15:00] where we can all grow together, where we can move through our fears, where we can.
Make those bold moves, take action as well as being supported and a part, feel a part of something together. So, I really want this space to be about you, about connecting, uh, and all of us growing our businesses in a way that feels good, in a way that honors us, and works around and for Our families and the life that we truly desire, not the other way around.
I cannot wait to share more of this podcast with you and to dive into so many different areas. And I just want to say the hugest thank you for being here today because, well, I appreciate it so much. I appreciate you listening. I appreciate you being here.
